I should here exclude some of the leftists who participated in writing the new constitutional draft .I can assure that anybody who has observed the scene from the beginning of the plot will conclude that easily. Only those who have closed their minds at any opposite opinion will keep repeating their foolish and dirty words. We have a real problem with them. Neither they accept the dialogue as the only way to reach to their demands nor they admit they are losers.

The new constitution draft will be voted within days draws a thick barrier between them and us , between those who follow the peaceful pathway to fulfill their demands and those who carried the weapons against us and the government . Sadly, I can say that those will flee to their sponsors either in the west or in the Arabian Gulf states and taste the bitterness of the exile.no other choice than following them and killing them is available for the national government in Syria .

Those are allies of evil. The evil is controlling them and planning their moves and acts. The nation needs sterilization and this exactly what the Syrians are demanding from their government.

وقبل أشهر من انتهاء ولايته الرئاسية, أستفاق الرئيس الفرنسي نيقولا ساركوزي من غفلته وجهله وإهماله لمصالح شعبه. 

ووجد ذاته في وضع معقد قد يطيح بحلمه باقتناص ولاية رئاسية ثانية. وقد تنتهي به الحال كمتهم في  قفص أحد المحاكم. يشعر ساركوزي بالخيبة والمرارة ,فأحلامه وأمانيه ومستقبله أشبه بقش تذروه الريح العاتية. فشعبية خصمه فرنسوا هولاند في تزايد, بينما شعبيته في انحسار .ففي عهده خسر حزبه الأغلبية في مجلس الشيوخ. ولذلك راح  يجرب كل شيء حتى المجرب الذي أثبتت التجارب فشله. ويتبنى اصلاحات غير شعبية. ويعض  أصابعه ندماً على أضاعته الوقت وما أرتكب من خطأ. و قبل منامه وبعد استيقاظه  يتذكر بانه أرتكب من الاخطاء والحماقات الكثير والتي سبق أن أوردتها في مقالاتي السابقة, ومنها مقال بعنوان  (وهل سيدحض  الرئيس ساركوزي هذه التهم؟ ) . ولكنه أثراها بأخطاء أخرى. وهذه بعص منها:

·        فهو الرئيس الفرنسي الوحيد الذي وضع نفسه بتصرف الادارة الأمريكية, وأمتطى صهوة المحافظين الجدد المتصهينين. ودفع بفرنسا لتكون ذيلاً للمصالح الأمريكية في العالم. وأنه  شارك  مع  غيره في قطر عربة المصالح الأميركية ,فأهمل مصالح فرنسا وحل مشكلات شعبها, ففجر غضب الفرنسيين وشعوب العالم  عليه دفعة واحدة.

·        واستجداء الأمين العام لحلف الناتو اندرس فوغ المجتمع الدولي في تحمل أعباء تمويل قوات الأمن الأفغانية, ومحاولات اوباما للهروب من أفغانستان بعد الهزيمة. حشراه في زاوية ضيقة أجبره الاعلان عن سحب قواته من أفغانستان مع نهاية عام 2013م  مخالفاً بذلك الموقف الموحد لدول الناتو بسحب قواتهم  نهاية عام 2014م.

·        وأنه في مواجهة غضب 63% من  الشارع الفرنسي  المستاء من سياساته الاقتصادية والاجتماعية. مع مطالبة 84% من الشعب الفرنسي بسحب القوات الفرنسية من أفغانستان بعد مقتل 82 جندياً فرنسياً في أفغانستان.

·        وأنه عارق حتى أذنيه في مستنقع أخطائه وإهماله وعهره بفعل ما جنته يداه. فعدد العاطلين عن العمل  ارتفع إلى  4,24 مليون شخص. ونسبة البطالة بلغت 9,3% من عدد السكان .وأزمة الديون تسببت بانكماش اقتصادي  في فرنسا كما في بلدان اليورو. وديون فرنسا سترغمه على اقتراض  178 مليار يورو من الاسواق عام 2012م.

·        وزوجته المنفصل عنها خرجت عن صمتها متهمة إياه  بقيامه برحلات عديدة  إلى الخارج في تسعينيات القرن الماضي لجمع حقائب الأوراق النقدية, وهي أموال سياسية لاشرعية. وهذه الفضيحة قد تجرجره إلى المحاكم.

·        والشاهد على زواجه من كارلا بروني السيد  نيكولا بازير بات متهم بقضية كراتشي وبقضية إساءة استخدام الأموال العامة. والتحقيق في هذه القضايا قد  يفتح سر علاقته الوطيدة معه ,وقد تجره إلى القضاء  كشاهد أو متهم.

·        وفضيحة  رئيس الوزراء السابق إدوارد بلادور, ووزير الثقافة السابق رينود دوينديودي المتهمون بالتورط بأكبر صفقة عمولات لصفقة مبيعات للأسلحة الفرنسية. إضافة إلى الروائح  التي تنتشر في فرنسا عن عملية فساد متورط بها ساركوزي  بشركة  هين,  وفضيحة قضية مؤسسة  ليليان بيتا نكورد لمستحضرات التجميل, لا يحمد عقباهم.

·        ورحلات زوجته كارلا بروني  إلى مراكش وغيرها للاستجمام ,والتي بات ينظر إليها على أنها تعطي السمعة السيئة للدول التي يزورها مثل هؤلاء الأثرياء لما يتخللها من بذخ يفوق الحد والوصف. والتي تتحمل مصروفاتها ميزانيات البلدان المضيفة. فاستضافة الرئيس مبارك  على نفقة مصر  لكل من ساركوزي وزوجته ورئيس وزراء فرنسا السابق فرنسوا فيون وأسرته ,واستضافة الرئيس التونسي بن علي  لوزيرة الخارجية الفرنسية ميشال اليو ماري .واستضافة الملك  المغربي الرئيس  شيراك ومجموعة من الساسة الفرنسيين باتت  دليل على الفساد في السياسة.

·        وتخبطه وحيرته وتردده وضياعه ظهرا جلياً في  لقائه الأخير مع أربع محطات تلفزيونية حين  كشف عن تسلحه برزمة بالية من الاصلاحات الاقتصادية بذريعة أن همه كرئيس إنما هو إنقاذه لفرنسا, وراح يتمسك بالمراوغة مع مستجوبيه في محاولاتهم كشف نيته بترشحه لولاية ثانية ,وأفصح عن ذلك بلغة ملتوية من خلال أجوبته. حين قال: لدي موعد مع الفرنسيين ولن أتخلف عنه. وأجوبته لم تقتنع الفرنسيين. فردت الصحف الفرنسية  عليه بحدة, ووجهت عتباً إليه عبر تساؤل قاتل. عبرت عنه بهذه الصيغة: مادامت لديك كل هذه الافكار وكل هذا الحماس لحل أزمة الفرنسيين  والنهوض بالاقتصاد الفرنسي .لماذا لم تقم بذلك منذ توليك زمام الأمور عام 2007م؟

·        والكثير من أعضاء حزبه ناقم عليه. وخاصة حين رفع ساركوزي الضريبة على القيمة المضافة اعتباراً تشرين الأول من 19,6% إلى 21,2% لتعويض الاعباء الاجتماعية التي تثقل كاهل الشركات لتحميله للمستهلكين. وهذا الرفع سيقلص القدرة الشرائية للفرنسيين. كما أن هذا الرفع استوحاه من النظام الألماني. وهذا الرفع  سيكلف حزبه خسارة في الانتخابات. عبر عنها النائب عن حزبه  ليونيل لوكا بتصريحه للإعلام. قائلاً: هذا انتحار سياسي.

·        وسبعة  فرنسيين من عشرة يعتبرون إن إداء ساركوزي سلبي في مجال مكافحة البطالة ومكافحة عدم المساواة.

·        ووعده بإنشاء بنك للاستثمار الصناعي في شباط عام 2012م برأس مال مليار يورو لم يحظى بشعبية الفرنسيين.

·        وعلاقته الحميمة مع أردوغان لم تفلح في منع التصدع  في العلاقات التركية الفرنسية. ولذلك دخل في صراع مرير مع تركيا وأردوغان وغول وأوغلوا. فالصحافة التركية تصف ساركوزي: بالشيطان. وبأنه يذبح الديمقراطية.

·        والشعبين الفرنسي والتركي يسخران من ساركوزي وأردوغان حين قادا الناتو لاحتلال ليبيا. بينما يتهم حاليا أردوغان ساركوزي بتهم جرائم حرب. حيث أطلق  أردوغان العنان للسانه ليقول في خطاب متلفز على الهواء: أن القوات الفرنسية بحلول عام 1945م كانت قد أجهزت على 15% من الشعب الجزائري بأكمله. وأحرقت قسماً من هؤلاء أحياء داخل أفران الغاز. وأن ما فعلته لا يمكن أن يوصف إلا بكونه إبادة جماعية في الجزائر. وإذا كان نيكولا ساركوزي ليس ملماً بما ارتكبته القوات الفرنسية في الجزائر, فليتقدم بالسؤال إلى ابيه بال ساركوزي الذي خدم في العصبة الفرنسية خلال الاربعينات .وأنا على يقين من ان لديه الكثير الذي يدلي به لابنه عن اعمال الابادة الشنيعة التي ارتكبتها هذه القوات بحق الثوار الجزائريين وعن الافران خصوصاً. وهذا الكلام يدين أردوغان.

·        وعلاقات ساركوزي مع حكام قطر باتت مثار شكوك وريبة في الشارع الفرنسي. ويشاع في فرنسا على أن الرئيس ساركوزي يقلد طوني بلير في حصوله على رشاوى وأعطيات من بعض الدول النفطية. وربما هذا هو سبب هجوم مرشحة اليمين الفرنسي المتطرف للرئاسة الفرنسية  مارين لبوان على قطر. حين قالت: قطر تستخدم قوتها المالية في تبني مواقف متناقضة. وقطر تساعد الجماعات الاسلامية ,ومع ذلك تظهر نفسها أمام الديمقراطيات الغربية على انها مستنيرة. حتى أن السيد نبيه البرجي نشر مقال في صحيفة الديار اللبنانية. كتب في مقدمته: بجدية يقول لنا سفير خليجي في بيروت أن قطر هي التي تجر أمريكا  هذه المرة ,وليست أميركا هي التي تجر قطر.

·        ويشعر بالمرارة  لأنه لم يكن موفق في  اختياره لجوبيه وزيرا للخارجية. وخاصة حين  رد المتحدث الرسمي باسم الخارجية الفرنسية  برنار فاليرو  على إعلان إيران نجاحها في إطلاق قمر صناعي للمراقبة. حيث قال: إذا كانت هذه المعلومة صحيحة فإن التجربة تعد انتهاكاً لقرارات مجلس الأمن الدولي  وأنه خبر يثير القلق. ووزير الخارجية الفرنسية  آلان جوبية  استلم رسالة من الجمعية الفرنسية الفلسطينية للتضامن والتي تتخذ من باريس مقراً لها ، ولها فروع في 90 مدينة فرنسية في التاسع من شباط تناشده فيها بالتدخل العاجل لدى إسرائيل لإنقاذ حياة الأسير خضر عدنان, ولكنه لم يتحرك كما يملي عليه واجبه. بينما هو يتصرف في أمور كثيرة بما يتعارض ومصالح بلاده.

·        وتلكأه بمعالجة  موضوع  المعتقل اللبناني في سجون فرنيا منذ 28عام السيد  جورج عبد الله  رغم القنبلة التي فجرها المحامي جان بول مازوييه  عام 2001م وهو أحد اعضاء هيئة الدفاع عن المعتقل اللبناني, سيتحمل تبعاتها ساركوزي كرئيس ومحام وسابقاً كوزير للداخلية. فالمحامي جان بول  أعترف لوسائط الاعلام بالحقيقة. حين قال: أنني أنا المخبر الذي لمح إليه السيد إيف بونيه  قائد DST  وأنه هو من تجسس على جورج عبد الله بعد أن استقطبته الاستخبارات الفرنسية. ومن بعدها أعترف السيد إيف بونيه بالحقيقة. وقال: أن ما حدث كان مؤامرة أمنية مخالفة للقانون. ولقد تصرفنا في هذه القضية فعلاً كمجرمين. وأضم صوتي إلى المنادين بالإفراج عن عبد الله. فقد آن الأوان لوضع حد للظلم الكبير الذي الحقناه به. وساركوزي كوزير ورئيس أحد المشاركين بهذه الجريمة.

·        ويشعر ساركوزي بالخطأ حين أرتاح لمقولة هنري كيسنجر بأن أزمة الشرق الأوسط ولدت مع الأزل وتموت مع الأزل .ولذلك لم  يتحرك ولو بجهد ضئيل لمعالجتها أو المساهمة في إيجاد حلول لها. بل أن سياسته  جاءت لتزيد من حدتها وتصعيدها, وحتى الدفع بالشرق الأوسط إلى آتون حروب وفتن قد تحرق الأخضر واليابس.

·        والكثير من أعضاء حزبه  يعتبرون  أن يعض سياساته وتصرفاته الخاطئة خدمت أوباما والحزب الديمقراطي في حملتهما الانتخابية القادمة, بينما  دفعت به وبحزبه ليكونا الخاسرين في الانتخابات الفرنسية القادمة.

·        والكثير من الفرنسيين يتهمونه بأنه عَرّض منظومة الدول الفرنكوفونية  لأعتى درجات الخطر. وترك الادارة الأمريكية طليقة اليدين تعبث بأمن وأنظمة وسلامة واقتصاد منظومة هذه الدول. وحتى مقومات التعدد والعيش المشترك فيها.

·        وعلاقته الوطيدة مع الصهيوني برنار هنري ليفي أماط عنها اللثام الوزير الكندي السابق  ريشار لوهير في مقابلة صحفية مع صحيفة الجمهورية الجديدة التي تصدر في كندا. وخاصة حين قال: أن برنار هنري ليفي أعلن أمام أول مؤتمر وطني يعقده  المجلس التمثيلي للمنظمات الصهيونية  في فرنسا أنه شارك في المغامرة السياسية  في ليبيا بوصفه يهودياً. وأنه ما كان ليفعل ذلك لو لم يكن يهودياً. ولقد حمل لواء امانته لاسمه وأمانته للصهيونية وإسرائيل. وهذا إتهام لساركوزي بأن حماسته وقيادته للمغامرة في ليبيا إنما هدفه خدمة الصهيونية وإسرائيل  لا خدمة فرنسا.

·        والشائعات تزكم الأنوف في فرنسا والعالم  على أنه  سماحه للقذافي بنصب خيمته في باريس. واستقباله الحافل له, ومساهمته الكبيرة في كسر طوق العزلة عن القذافي. إنما سببها تمويل القذافي لحملته الانتخابية. وأن عملية قتل القذافي بدل محاكمته  سببها إبقاء القذافي صامتاً إلى الأبد كي لا يبوح  بأسرار لا تسر ساركوزي وحلفائه.

·        وغالبية الشعب الفرنسي يشكك بكل ما يقوله ساركوزي وحتى بسياساته. فساركوزي سارع للتدخل في ليبيا بينما كانت نسبة الفرنسيين المؤيدون لهذا التدخل لا تتجاوز نسبة 36%.بينما أحجم ويحجم عن التدخل في أماكن أخرى من العالم رغم أن نسبة المؤيدون  لهذا التدخل تزيد عن نسبة 50%. وهذا معناه أن لساركوزي أجندات ومعايير خاصة  يتعامل بها مع إسرائيل والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية  لا تتطابق وتطلعات وأهداف الشعب الفرنسي.

·        والكثير من الأوروبيين والفرنسيين يتهمون ساركوزي بالتقصير لأنه لم يستثمر محاولات بعض الدول اعتمادها على اليورو كعملة صعبة في ميزانيتها  بدل من الدولار .وهذا ما عرض اليورو إلى أقصى حدود درجات الخطر.

·         وكثيراً من الفرنسيين يعتبرون ساركوزي نسخة طبق الأصل عن جورج بوش الأبن. وآخرون يعتبرونه وزوجته كارلا بروني نسخة طبق الأصل عن ملك فرنسا وزوجته الملكة ماري أنطوانيت واللذان أطاحت بهم الثورة الفرنسية. والبعض الآخر يعتبره كذاب كرئيس وزراء بريطانيا توني بلير. وآخرون يعتبرونه صهيوني  كل همه خدمة إسرائيل.

يتخبط حالياً الرئيس ساركوزي في سياسته وتصريحاته ومواقفه وتصرفاته كثعبان  ضُرب رأسه بحجر. ولذلك أختار في ظل ما يتهدد مستقبله السياسي والاجتماعي استراتيجية الغموض والمقامرة, وفقد حتى الحماس الذي  سحر به أعين كثيراً من الفرنسيين عندما كان وزيراً للداخلية في عهد جاك شيراك. ولقد أسر لبعض مساعديه بالقول: سأتفرغ للسعي وراء مصالحي المالية على غرار ما فعله  رئيس وزراء بريطانيا السابق توني بلير الذي جمع لنفسه الملايين بعد تنحيه عن السلطة .و اعتقد أنني بلغت خاتمة المطاف. لأول مرة في حياتي أجدني بمواجهة مصير كهذا. لست ديكتاتوراً ولذا فلن أتشبث بالسلطة. فأنا محام في الأصل ولدي العديد من الاهتمامات التي ستأخذ مني كل الوقت. وسأرحل وأعيش بهدوء بحيث لن تسمعوا عني مرة أخرى. تكفيني السياسة ولا رجعة إليها. سأسافر كيفما شئت. لا يخيفني هذا, وبصراحة فإنني اتطلع إليه. وهذا الكلام  ليس دليل قناعة وإنما دليل  يأس وفشل بعد أن أكتشف ساركوزي بأنه قضى حياته فيما لا ينفع فرنسا وشعبها بشيء.

مُضحك ساركوزي حين يُتخم بلاده بصرعاته. وآخر صرعاته أنه إذا أنتخب رئيسا لفرنسا مرة ثانية فسوف يتبنى مبدأ الاقتراع الشعبي في كل أمر باستثناء بعض الأمور كالتربية . وبهذه الصرعة  ينتقص من دور كل من الجمعية الوطنية ومجلس الشيوخ. ويضيف مجلس تشريعي جديد يضم الشعب الفرنسي بأكمله ولكنه  ينتقص من صلاحياته في أهم الأمور. ومُستغرب تصرف ساركوزي الذي يحمل شهادة في القانون ومختص بالمحاماة حين يًفاخر بتصرفاته وسياساته ومواقفه والتي ينتهج فيها خرق قواعد الشرعية الدولية والقانون الدولي وميثاق منظمة الأمم المتحدة ,ويشارك أو يقود أعمال عدوانية وإجرامية وإرهابية!!!!!! ومُحزن حال ساركوزي حين فضحته الوسائط الاعلامية  كموقع اغورافوكس وإذاعة اوروبا 1 وصحيفة ليبراسيون  حين  نشروا أخباراً بأن ساركوزي يستدعي عمال مزيفين  ليهتفوا له وليروج البعض منهم على أنهم مراسلين في الصحافة  خلال بعض زياراته لبعض المدن والمنشآت, كزيارته لورشة إيسون جنوب باريس. أو حين يجلب عمال إضافيين  بالحافلات وبالسرعة القصوى من و ورشات أخرى للتصفيق له  والهتاف له والصراخ حبيينا نيكولا ,والتقاط صور إجبارية لهم مع الرئيس ساركوزي. وقد نشر موقع سورايماج مقالاً. جاء فيه: عند زيارة ساركوزي لمعمل فوريسيا عام 2009م تم جلب عمال مزيفين بالحافلات  ليهتفوا للرئيس ساركوزي ,وإن بعضاً من هؤلاء الكومبارس تم تكليفهم  تقديم التهنئة لساركوزي لبرنامجه المميز. وهذا الكومبارس تم اختيارهم  قصار القامة  حتى لا يتجاوزوا طول الرئيس. وختم الموقع مقاله بالقول: إن ساركو المقدس ستكون صحوته قاسية عندما يدرك أن عدد الناخبين الحقيقين ليس بالشيء الكبير عندما تتم مقارنتهم بكومبارس الحزب الحاكم.

My students at Damascus University, Open University Program, asked me about my opinion of what was happening in Tunisia. I said since I knew that the regime there is an ally of USA and France I could not imagine anything crucially dramatic to happen unless a military force led a coups d’état. A coups d’état might take over otherwise nothing dramatic might happen. Next time I met with my students, Bin Ali the president of Tunisia had fled to Saudi Arabia and the regime, as it seemed, collapsed. My students sneered foxy smiles and said to me “Bin Ali is gone! How did that happen?” I said either the Tunisian army is highly patriotic and very close to its people or all happened within a conniving tapestry well engineered between the Tunisian army and the CIA! America would not tolerate losing such an ally like Bin Ali in such smoothness unless it has an alternative plan and an alternative pawn to play the same role.

In a few days, the Tsunami of the so-called “The Arab Spring” moved eastward to Egypt. We all got excited and very exuberant over imagining Mubarak’s regime removal from Egypt the extra strategic country in the Arab world. Again my students at the beginning of the lecture asked me: “Are you not excited over the possibility of removing Mubarak’s regime?” I said “I will be more than happy to see Mubarak the stooge number one of America and Israel is gone, but guys do not get your hopes too much up high, America and CIA may turn a blind eye to the existence of the whole of Tunisia but not to a tiny bit of Egypt since it is on the border of Israel besides of course the Super strategic significance of Egypt in the Arab world. AIPAC, (American Israel Public Affairs Committee), the true engineers of American policy in the so-called Middle East would not accept a non-compromising regime on a border with the so-called Israel. Take into your consideration these facts: Al-Sadat who handed Egypt to Israel and to America could not hand them the rest of the Arab world therefore he was assassinated and Mubarak whom was installed by CIA had to replace Al-Sadat who had expired his time and role limit. Now, it seems that the over aged Mubarak had expired his date, but it seems he had not expired his role; therefore if he was to be toppled somebody should replace him to play a similar role.” My skepticism played a mitigating role in not getting too excited about the possibility of removing Mubarak. For me, what is going on is not any more than a coups d’état covered by popular legitimate and overdue demands. A friend of mine, Hazem, with whom I discuss and deliberate all issues of the globe everyday over the phone, accused me of being “an overly precautionary pessimist” because of my delicate calculations of the role of Egyptian armed forces in determining the destiny of Mubarak’s regime: in other words, without a conniving collusion on the part of the Egyptian Army I could not imagine Mubarak’s regime toppled. Perhaps, I was truly pessimist, but I have what may justify this cautious pessimism: after all, after seeing George Bush, the dumbest man on earth, managing to run America for two terms made me lose my trust in mobs and masses and in their susceptibility to manipulation. However, the day Mubarak collapsed and forced to declare his resignation I got too much excited and immediately I sent SMS messages to my friends around the world congratulating them on this historical event. Later on, and in my discussions with my students and friends I seemed more pessimistic than even before especially after reading about the friendship that flourished between Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, the commander-in-chief of the Egyptian armed forces, the current de facto ruler of Egypt now, with the United States Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. This friendship was solidified during the so-called Desert Storm operation in 1991 as the CNN anchor John King reported. John King mentioned that Robert Gates, a CIA veteran, told him how Tantawi and Gates exchanged visits between their tents during the second Gulf War or the Storm Desert Operation. King added that Gates personally told him that he was calling Tantawi once or twice on daily bases during the Al-Tahrir Square “Revolution.” In the day Mubarak stepped down Gates, as it has been reported, phoned Tantawi probably more than twice!

The persisting questions remain as follows: why America sells out her agents in our region so easily? Why America gave up on Mubarak he who servilely served America and Israel? Does not he play the role of God-father of Oslo Accords and other humiliating gangrenous accords and agreements between Israel and some Arabs? Did he not work vehemently hard to convince Syria and her former president to sign such an agreement, but of course he failed in this with the stubborn and unbudgeable Assad of Syria who insisted on nothing but comprehensible peace for comprehensive occupied land of Syria?

I think that the answer lies in the principal pragmatic tenet of American pragmatism which postulates that “if you cannot beat them join them!” The CIA and the Obama administration understood that they could not keep turning blind eye to her stooge regimes that have been ignoring the demands of their people for decades. America definitely understands this fact that democratization of Arab and Islamic worlds is not in her advantage; America understands that real democracy in these two worlds harms her strategic interests; only dictatorship can take the role of a stooge to serve America. Instead of demonstrating a kind of ‘loyalty’ in defending her old stooges like Bin Ali and Mubarak, America decided to contain these waves of popular demands and immediately changed her horses by showing support to these popular demands and began a long process of negotiations with military powers in Tunisia and Egypt to get the most of what she can from them. Moreover, America thought that all her pompous declaims of spreading ‘democracy,” these declaims that only the naïves including some American citizens, around the world may buy, would seem to serve in achieving two-folded benefits: one is that she gets rid of over-expired stooges, which were inevitably collapsible, at the same time she would seem supportive of ‘democracy.’ Above all, America thought that if she manages to extend these waves of ‘popular demands’ to the countries and regimes that for a long time refused to orbit around her like Libya and Syria she would get the golden moment and the peak of her efforts for strategic aims in the so-called Middle East. I intimated to my friends and students that America cannot allow the scenario of Iran in 1979 to be repeated again. Such strategic allies like Bin Ali and Mubarak should they be gone they should be replaced by similar regimes or at least preventing these emerging regimes in these two countries from joining in a way or another those that she labels as “rogue states” or “axis of evil.”Immediately, CIA set a plan to export this wave of “popular demands” to Libya and Syria. It was very much easier to begin with Libya for many reasons. Their well designed scenario worked very well in Binghazi and in Libya in general in less than two weeks, but the main target was and still and will remain: Syria.

Why Syria is that much important to USA and EU and why they would exploit any opportunity to undermine its regime? And why does America antagonize Syria despite of all the Syrian attempts to build good relations with America?

It is unquestionable fact that American policies towards the whole world based on very primitive principle: We are the mightier we should poke our nose in every affair of this world. American policy makers do not want to master the arts of diplomacy, they do not want to scratch their heads over matters: perhaps, the situations that they may scratch their heads are indeed very limited. The problem of Syria is that even when Syrian-American relations were reasonably good and in their peak during the Clinton’s Administration, Syria refused to play the role of anything less than ‘independent state’ that works only on her own agenda and for her interests whether strategic or non- strategic. Noam Chomsky stated brilliantly the fact about American hostility towards independent states. He said:

What’s the real concern is not Islam or radicalism; it’s independence. If the radical Islamists are independent, well, they’re an enemy. If secular nationalists are independent, they are an enemy. In Latin America, for decades, when the Catholic Church, elements of the Catholic Church, were becoming independent, the liberation theology movement, they were an enemy. We carried out a major war against the church. Independence is what’s intolerable,..(**)

Obviously, if Iran poses the Islamist independent regime, Syria poses the secular nationalist regime that America would not tolerate. Syria of Assad whether Hafez’s or Bashar’s is absolutely not Iraq of Saddam Hussein whose policies were primitive, unsophisticated and lacking smart subtle diplomacy exactly like the American ones. Therefore what was between these two counterpart policies is nothing but the question of power, two similar powers in conflict, consequently the mightier would wipe out the weaker and that exactly what happened in the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Saddam Hussein ineptly gave America one golden opportunity after another to destroy Iraq, but the two Assads of Syria intelligently managed to avoid American traps one after another. I have discussed some of American traps set to Syria in one of my articles entitled “Unevenhandedness the Core of All Evils” (*3) in which I review the timeline of the American traps set to Syria from 2003 to 2010 only and in which I avoided going deeper in the history of Syrian American and western relations and the vast series of plots against Syria including the plot of “Muslim Brotherhood” in early 1980s and Israel’s invasions to Lebanon in 1982 and in 1984 and the Nezar Al-Hindawi’s plot in 1986 which originally was designed to be Syria’s version of the Lockerbie Bombing. The American problem with the Syrian regime presided by the two Assads is not anything but that it is an independent national regime that insists on not orbiting around USA and its satellites and in insisting on not joining the club of American stooges among the reactionary states of the Gulf and north Africa. If this regime follows the lead of the King of Jordan or the king of Saudi Arabia all its problems will disappear and become a good friend that will be hosted by EU Parliament twice a year and by the American Congress every now and then.

The Current situation: once America realized that this movement of “popular demands” could not be stopped she with unequivocal pragmatism decided to join this movement so-called “Arab Spring” and immediately orchestrated this movement towards Syria. It took longer than America expected. All America could manage to mobilize was under tremendous pressure. Immediately, all her satellite channels which she established upon the invasion of Iraq in 2003 like Al-Hora and Alarabiay originally targeting the whole Arab world besides the Barada channel which Washington-Post confirmed it was financed by America targeting Syria in particular; all thronged together with Aljazeera ruled and administered by American military bases in Qatar like Al Udeid Air Base 45 km west of the capital Doha and As Sayliyah all began to form unprecedented chorus to instigate riots in Syria. For weeks, their desperate attempts failed to move anything on the ground in Syria. Their desperate attempts for some time seemed ludicrous; they hired some individuals to film mobile video, no more than maximum 30 seconds, of three or four persons just finishing their prayer behind the Imam of the mosque and two or three slogans shrieked loudly like “wainak Ya Sori wainak?” which translates like “oh, Syrian where are you, where are you?”; or sometimes they exploited souk (open marketplace) thronged with shoppers and two or three persons shrieking slogans urging Syrians to join them against the regime in the midst of the astonished shoppers who sneered at them or held their mobiles to video them. Syrians’ access to Facebook was implicitly banned, after the failing of these desperate attempts to spark riots in Syria, Syrian government lifted this ban and Facebook became accessible by all Syrians. This was an indication of the government’s over confidence of the popularity of the regime in Syria.

The reason behind the failure of sparking riots at that early stage is as simple as this fact: Syrians for decades accepted everything every misdeed by the Syrian government for the sake of keeping their country standing in the face of America and Israel; Syrians after the plot of accusing Syrian regime in the assassination of the Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri and after the strings of this plot were exposed to the public, Syrians were reassured that their homeland is targeted with conspiracies many times and therefore they stood firmly by their regime. I personally heard many people of the Syrian opposition inside Syria saying “when it comes to our national honor rights and the stability of our homeland, we are ready to sacrifice everything else.” The CIA and its affiliates in the Middle East like the Saudi, the Jordanian, the Qatari, and of course the Israeli got frustrated for all their attempts failed completely in very dramatic way. Their original plan was to orchestrate the Libyan “revolution” with Syrian one on the 17th of February, but the so-called “Syrian revolution” had not begun up to the 17th of March.

Because of this delay and their bitter frustration, the CIA and its affiliates frantically moved quickly to the second stage which was using armed gangs and roof-tops snipers whose task was to fire on demonstrators and accusing Syrian security forces which commonly well-established that they are untrained unprepared for such civil riots because although the Syrian constitution legalized civil demonstration but never set the executive rules of conducting such demonstrations. Tragically, the first Syrian demonstrators were unexpectedly not adults but young children and teenagers. Perhaps, they were much easier than the adults to lure into the scheme that worked on desperately for weeks (*4). These children and teenagers were unconsciously acquired the slogans about removing “a regime,” any regime, from watching the events of Tunisia and Egypt on Aljazeera and Alarbiaya. After over-watching and over-listening to the slogans of the demonstrators in Tunisia, Egypt and later in Libya, my son Osaid Iskenderon who is now less than four years old memorized by heart these slogans and up to this moment he repeats them in the midst of my wife’s resentment and my astonished admiration for his incredible memory. Syrian novelist, Aadail Mahmood in Alwatan Newspaper (*5)(21-March-2011) wrote a column about a similar story of a child who woke up his father demanding the bewildered almost sleeping father to join him in a rally to ‘ topple the regime;’ which regime he asked, the child replied of “the regime of Libya.” Evidently, these words became catchwords that sparked the “riots” in Daraa south of Syria on the Syrian Jordanian borders. The tragic error occurred when some myopic and narrow-minded policemen punished some teenagers repeating these catchwords and inscribing some graffitos. Finally, the efforts of months of the CIA and its affiliates paid off; the spark they failed to ignite for months finally had been murderously delivered and the well-devised ploys schemed to be covered by prolonged legitimate popular demands of the Syrians who postponed their overdue demands for years in a hope that one day their government, that intrepidly resisted American hegemony, would wake up and reform what should be reformed for decades.

Suddenly and quite abruptly, one of the oldest Syrian flags was held by some protesters in Daraa; watching these flags on TV made me immediately realize that these demonstrations are well-orchestrated and not spontaneous acts motivated by sincere demands of reformation. Manufacturing old flags takes time and requires long and deep deliberation about which flag to remake, revive and bring into the consciousness of the Syrians. Suddenly, roof-top snipers appeared to complicate the clashes between the security men and the demonstrators who some were demanding the punishment of those who punished the children and teenagers who made the graffitos, some demanding sincere overdue reforms, and others who were paid to be videoed and screened on Aljazeera and Al-Arabiay that took every piece of news out of its proportion for a propaganda well paid and well devised against the only regime that has never given in to the American and western dictation. Of course, Aljazeera and Al-Arabiay would not miss the chance to broadcast Fatwa (Islamic authorization) issued by some extremist Salafist clerics (like Alqurdawi) from Saudi Arabia and Qatar agitating sectarian sentiments among Syrians and “divinely” legitimating the killing even up to the third of the Syrian people. (Medievalist line of thought that I recognized and wrote about in the mentality of the executives and anchors of the Qatari satellite news channel: Aljazeera.)

Other details prove that those who began the whole issue were totally manipulated by strings held somewhere outside Syria. Those who sought legitimate, righteous and just demands of reformation were misrepresented and misunderstood. Gangsters and roof-tops snipers across the Jordanian borders provided with all the required logistics including Jordanian mobiles, well-prepared and overzealous biased media coverage came together with the innocent parents of the teenagers who inscribed the graffitos besides some nationalists with well and patriotic intents who thought it was the right time to wake up the government for the overdue demands contributed to inflame the events of Daraa. It should be acknowledged that this war in proxy on Syria, disguised in ‘popular demands’ has achieved some of America’s goals, but even America herself would not dream of changing or replacing the incumbent Syrian regime because despite of every criticism Syrians may have to this regime they still trust and believe in the Syrian president and in Syria’s strategic role in the region. This war in proxy is draining tremendous amount of Syrians’ resources, increased the challenging of Syrian economy more than it was ever challenged before by accommodating more than 1.5 million Iraqi refugees after the invasion of Iraq, challenged by America and the western block for decades through sanctions, blacklisting, embargoing on banking and high-tech equipments, defaming everything Syrian in the Western mass media, paralyzing Syrian airlines by banning Syrian purchasing of spare parts for these airliners,.. etc.

This war tragically challenged the oneness and the national unity of the Syrian people and worked hard on instigating sectarian sentiments, but Syrians showed high patriotism that hindered such sentiments from deteriorating towards a civil war. This war shed Syrian blood almost in all over the country created new grudges here and there, inflicted wounds insides some Syrians’ psyche, defamed Syrian reputation in the international public opinion, disturbing Syrian-Arab relationships, Syrian- Qatari ‘s for instance, Syrian- Turkish relationship, Syrian- European relations…etc. On the other hand, what happened strengthened the alliance and ties of Syria with Russia, China, Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas and the American roadmap proposing an exit out of the riots in Syria suggested by Michele Flournoy , US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, when she said “Syria must distance itself from Iran and join the Gulf states, as well as move forward in the peace process with Israel” was turned down by Syria: Syria does not sacrifice her independence, her national interests and her strategic relationships for American promises that will never substantiate as long as Israel unjustly remains the cornerstone of American policy in the region.

Reformations in Syria received unprecedented momentum: naturalizing hundreds of thousands of Kurdish immigrants settled for decades in Syria, regularizing civil protestation, lifting emergency law, minimizing bureaucracy and governmental routine, challenging the old mentality of the government by which the country was run for years..etc. Some other reforms are highly expected in Syria. As one of the Arabic proverbs postulates that “the strike that does not break your back, toughens it.” Syrian back has been struck but is never broken.

It is a pure Syrian celebration which will knock the doors of the monarchies in the Gulf and alarm its people for democracy ·

حلب وعزمي بشارة

كان لافتاً تكرار عزمي بشارة بعد طول غياب ضرورة أن تلتحق دمشق وحلب بالثورة متوقعاً ذلك ، في الوقت الذي كانت فيه الجهات المخططة تعمل على تهيئة أنصارها في حلب.

ولئن كان بشارة يهزأ بطلب ” الثوار ” تدخل الناتو طالباً منهم أن يخاطبوا حلب ودمشق بدلاً من الناتو فإن توقعات بشارة بدخول حلب بقوة على خط الاحتجاجات لا يمكن عزلها عن الخطة التي تنفذها قطر عبر أذرعة مخابراتية دولية للفرنسيين و الأتراك الدور الأكبر فيها وفق مصدر مطلع مقرب من دوائر القرار في حلب .

الخطة التي تحدث عنها لعربي برس مصدر أميركي مخابراتي سابق من واشنطن (محمد سعيد ) ومصدر مقرب من تنسيقية تل رفعت (ماهر العظمة من حلب) تقاطعت في جوانب كثيرة مع المصدر المقرب من السلطات في حلب.

وذكر مصدر تنسيقية تل رفعت أن الخطة كانت تعتمد على التفجيرين الانتحاريين لتوجيه ضربة شديدة على الرأس الأمني تفقده صوابه لساعات و استغلال ذلك للخروج بمظاهرات غاضبة بالاشتراك مع مسلحي ما يسمى الجيش السوري الحر تتوجه إلى أقسام الشرطة وتحرقها بالتزامن مع هجمات طيارة على فروع الأمن و إشغالها أكثر.

و أضاف المصدر : تقوم العناصر الإعلامية في التنسيقيات بتصوير وتوثيق حرقها بعد الاستيلاء على السلاح الموجود فيها وبث ذلك في القنوات الفضائية كدليل على بدء الانتفاضة الشعبية في حلب و تشجيع مؤيدي الثورة على الخروج للتظاهر و تأمين زخم عددي بعد إشاعة سقوط العشرات خلال الاشتباكات والتوجه فوراً إلى ساحة سعد الله الجابري لاحتلالها .

وأكد المصدر أن ” خلافات حادة وقعت بين قادة المسلحين في تلرفعت ومارع وعندان إثر بث التلفزيون السوري لمشاهد عن التفجيرين و شعور أبناء الريف بأن الخوف تسرب إلى نفوس زعماء التنسيقيات في أحياء حلب وخشيتهم من ردة فعل أمنية عنيفة على المتظاهرين و إبلاغهم أن انتشاراً امنيا مكثفاً شهدته حلب و كأن التفجيرين لم يؤثرا في قدرة الأجهزة الأمنية على الانتشار بالأخص مع استنفار مفاجىء لعناصر عشائرية وشعبية مساندة للأمن ” وجزم المصدر بأسف ” تردد الكثيرين من المسلحين وزعماء تنسيقيات الريف الذين اجتمعوا في تلرفعت في التوجه إلى حلب بعد التفجيرات ، و أبدوا خشيتهم على عناصرهم الذين توجهوا قبل يومين للمبيت في شقق خلاياهم النائمة “.

وتابع المصدر مؤكداً أن ” عدداً من المسلحين قرر التوجه إلى حلب بعد ظهور العقيد عارف محمود على قناة فرانس 24 وذكره أن هجوماً على المركزين الأمنيين سبق التفجير ، إلا أن المسلحين عادوا أدراجهم بسبب الحضور الأمني المكثف عند البلليرمون وحتى مجمع كارفور ” .

و ذهب المصدر إلى القول إن ” الأمر يشبه يوم الزحف إلى حلب إبان قدوم المراقبين العرب و الذي مني بالفشل الذريع بسبب خلافات بين زعماء التنسيقيات الذين قدروا أن التوجه من حريتان إلى حلب بتظاهرة لا تضم أكثر من 2500 شخص سيتم تفريقها فور سيرها على الاوتوستراد ولعلمهم بأن مظاهرات باب النيرب وصلاح الدين و سيف الدولة والصاخور فشلت في جمع أكثر من بضع مئات ” .

خطة محكمة وتنفيذ سيء

و في المعلومات التي حصل عليها عربي برس فإن نحو 50 مسلحاً قدموا من محافظة إدلب حاولوا اقتحام كتيبة حفظ النظام التابعة لقيادة شرطة محافظة حلب لتصفية المجندين والعناصر الموجودين فيها إثر التفجير الانتحاري واستغلال الصدمة والارتباك الحاصلين، بالتزامن مع تحرك عشرات المسلحين في المرجة و الفردوس وصلاح الدين للسيطرة على تلك الأحياء وقطع الطرقات بالإطارات المشتعلة و الحجارة .

وحال القدوم السريع للتعزيزات الأمنية إلى مقر كتيبة حفظ النظام دون البدء بالعملية وفرار المسلحين إلى مقبرة جبل العظام وباتجاه شارع ميسلون حيث اختفوا في ما يبدو أنه ملاذات آمنة .

و أكد المصدر المطلع لعربي برس أن المسلحين الذين مكثوا في مقبرة جبل العظام حتى صلاة الظهر قام أربعة منهم بالاستيلاء على سيارة لمواطن وتوجهوا بها نحو دوار التليفون الهوائي حيث تبادلوا إطلاق النار مع العناصر المنتشرين بكثافة على الدوار ليقعوا في قبضة الأمن والمواطنين الذين أحاطوا بهم .

و أضاف أن القوى الأمنية حاصرت مقبرة جبل العظام ونشرت عناصرها على الأبنية المطلة على المنطقة ، وشرعت بتمشيط المنطقة حيث ألقي القبض على أربعة من الإرهابيين و استمرت الاشتباكات في المقبرة ومحيطها حتى الساعة السادسة مساء ، حيث سقط ثلاثة من المسلحين و تم اعتقال أربعة بعد إصابتهم حيث نقول التلقي العلاج في أحد مشافي المنطقة الخاصة .

و دارت اشتباكات في حي المرجة إثر قطع الاوتوستراد عند منطقة الحاووظ ، فيما تسلل مسلحون و أطلقوا النار على دوريات شرطة بالقرب من المكان ، وفي سيف الدولة حاولت إحدى المظاهرات التي شارك بها مسلحون التقدم باتجاه قسمي شرطة السكري و الأنصاري إلا أن القوى الأمنية تصدت لهم وأجبرتهم على التفرق وسط إطلاق نار، وهذا ما تكرر في الفردوس و صلاح الدين .

حصيلة الاشتباكات كانت سقوط أربعة قتلى و أكثر من ثلاثين جريحاً ، و استمر تعقب المسلحين الذين هاموا على وجوههم في المدينة حتى الليل و ألقي القبض على أربعة مسلحين في شارع الفيللات .

الاشتباكات التي اعقبت التفجيرات جعلت سكان المدينة يتحسرون على الأمن الذي لاحت بوادر اضطرابه في المدينة التي أصبحت اشكالية خاصة في سورية ، فهي قلعة سابقة للاخوان إبان مواجهاتهم الدموية مع سلطة البعث

المصدر المطلع ذهب إلى القول لدى الجهات المعنية تفاصيل الخطة التي فرضت من قبل المخابرات التركية على زعماء التنسيقيات في حلب وريفها و تفاصيل الخلافات التي وقعت فيما بينهم حيث ألح الناشطون في مخيمات لواء اسكندرون الذين يتلقون التعليمات من المخابرات التركية منسوبة للعقيد الفار رياض الأسعد عبر شخص يدعى محمد الحلبي ، على تنسيقيات حلب وريفها على تنفيذ الخطة في حين كان رأي تنسيقيات الداخل التريث حتى بداية آذار لتفجير حلب .

و أكد المصدر أن خلافات بين التنسيقيات وقعت و جعلت قسماً يحجم عن المشاركة في حين كانت حجة الطرف المتشدد في وجوب المشاركة هو تخفيف الضغط عن حمص .

و أشار المصدر إلى أن الخلافات تعززت بين الطرفين إثر ظهور العقيد رياض الأسعد نافياً مسؤولية” الجيش الحر ” عن تفجير مقري الأمن وحفظ النظام ومكذبا ما قاله العقيد عارف محمود عن مسوؤلية الجيش الحر عن العملية .

و أشار المصدر إلى أن بعض المثقفين و أصحاب الشهادات المنضوين في التنسيقيات بدأوا يشعرون بالعجز عن تحريك المظاهرات في مدينة حلب مما أفسح مجالاً للمتشددين بفرض خطة التفجير في جمعة النفير العام باعتبارها الفرصة الوحيدة لكسر هيبة السلطة في مدينة حلب و وللاستفادة من الزخم المتوقع للمظاهرات في جمعة اطلقت عليها تسمية جمعة النفير العام و تم التحضير لها إعلامياً بإعلان الجهاد في سورية وجوب النصرة للجيش السوري الحر من قبل الاتحاد العالمي لعلماء المسلمين ( القرضاوي ) و هيئة علماء سوريا الذي يعد واجهة للإخوان المسلمين السوريين .

و أكد المصدر أن المخابرات الفرنسية جهزت فرقة خاصة من القناصة المرتزقة من بلدان عربية و إسلامية موجودة في لواء اسكندرون كان سيتم إدخالها إلى حلب بعد أيام من اضطراب الأمن فيها و مهمتها العمل في المناطق التي يتم إخراجها من سيطرة السلطة وضرب الحواجز الأمنية التي سينصبها الأمن على مداخل الأحياء المسيطر عليها لزرع الرعب في قلوب العناصر و جر السلطات لإدخال الجيش و زيادة عدد حواجز التفتيش بما يرهق المواطنين ويزيد من النقمة .

فشلت خطط جر حلب للحراك السوري فلا المدينة خرجت في رمضان حيث صلاة التروايح هي كصلاة الجمعة التي كان الثوار ينتظرونها كل سبعة أيام ، ولا ثارت في يوم بركان حلب ولا اهتزت في يوم زلزال الشهباء .

فهل الدم و التفجيرات وتنبؤات عزمي بشارة قادرة على تحويل هذه المدينة من مؤيدة وصامتة إلى ثائرة و مسلحة ؟

DAMASCUS, (SANA)- President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday received a copy of the new draft constitution from the head of the National Committee charged with drafting a new constitution for the Syrian Arab Republic, during a meeting with the Committee’s members.

President al-Assad is to review the draft constitution and refer it to the People’s Assembly before putting it to referendum.

None of the experts at the Russian Forum 2012 are in doubt. Even if the ‘end of the world’ scenario for the Euro doesn’t play out, the economic recovery will be painful and long lasting.

So will it be farewell to the Euro

Paul Krugman, renowned economists and a Nobel laureate is all but pessimistic about the future of Greece.

“They (Greece) will default on their debt. In fact they already have. The question is whether they will also leave the Euro, which I think at this point is more likely than not,” he said.

Charles Wyplosz, Professor of International Economics, shares the doom and gloom scenario. A major crisis is most likely to take place, with Greece and Portugal defaulting at some point soon. “These are small countries, small debts – that’s ok,” Wyplosz comments. But Italy is likely to be the next, with the banks following suit. That’s when the European Central Bank will come in, which may take around a year or so to happen.

“If you have a patient as ill as we do, you need emergency measures,” Satyajit Das, Risk Consultant andauthor of “Extreme money” told Business RT. The periphery European economies should leave the Euro and then default – that’s what the ‘Doctor’ Das ordered.

Europe will need around €10trl, which includes €8.5trl of overall state debts and another €1trl to aid the world banking system, says Wyplosz. “We don’t need to spend it, but we have to have it ready,” which will basically put the end to the crisis. And the ECB is the only possible source of that, so much needed, pile of money.

“It’s not the European Stability Fund, it’s not the IMF, it’s not the German Government,” but the ECB that “can threaten the market with this amount of money,” Wyplosz explains.

He says that the ECB should just step into the market and say “we will do it, if need be,” which will immediately stop the crisis. However, currently it is being done another way, where the ECB “puts commercial banks at the centre of solutions.” It gives the banks huge amounts of money, that are further used to buy government debt.Given that the banks are extremely vulnerable at the moment, such “channelling of the money through commercial banks is bringing a short term solution, but is creating a longer term problem,” Wyplosz concludes.

A possible rescue plan for the EU leading economies drafted by Satyajit Das would include massive debt write offs, coupled with recapitalisation of banks around the world. And the last, but not least component would be another financial mechanism to replace the existing European Stability Mechanism (ESM).

“I call it the EIM – the European Instability Mechanism. Because it can’t work,” Satyajit Das says.

The periphery economies in turn should start implementing painful necessities. They need to cease using the single European currency to start improving their competitiveness and bottoming out of the crisis.

“There’s no way they can gain competitiveness by basically cutting their labour cost,” Satyajit Das explained referring to the Greek example. There was a cut on wages, of around 30%, which was basically undermining domestic demand – one of the key components of economic growth.

The European turmoil is certainly becoming increasingly important not only for the periphery economies, but for the world leaders as well, such as Germany and France, Satyajit Das adds. “Trying to save other people they now have become infected with the same disease.”

… or is there light in the end of a tunnel?

Jean-Michael Six, Chief European Economist at Standard & Poor’s, takes a more positive stance. He expects demand from the emerging markets, particularly from Asia, to recover in the 2nd half of 2012, “which should be supportive of a very gradual recovery in the Euro zone.”

This will be further underpinned by recovering investor confidence, as “the ECB provides ample liquidity for the banking sector in the Euro zone.”Interestingly, despite all the doom and gloom hanging around the Euro zone, the Euro has so far performed quite well, Jean-Michael Six stresses. “Obviously it’s the factor of confidence that remains,” he explained. However, “fundamentally, I’m not seeing anything spectacular happening to the Euro.”

Anders Еslund, a Senior Fellow at Peterson Institute, Washington, D.C., also says the Euro is unlikely to collapse. “Basically, the European crisis is bottoming out,” he told Business RT.

“One part of that is that you have to reduce the budget deficits, which is happening. Another point is that you need sufficient financing from the ECB for the European bailout mechanism, which is also happening,” Еslund explained

Speaking to FNA, a senior leader of the February 14 Coalition Sheikh Issa bin Ali al-Jamri stated that the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia are providing unlimited support for the Al Khalifa regime and help it in the massacre of the innocent people in the tiny Persian Gulf island.

He said that Riyadh and Amman are supporting Manama because they fear the spread of popular uprisings to their own countries and are trying to delay their collapse.

As regards the reason behind the US support for the Al Khalifa, Sheikh al-Jamri said Washington believes that Al Khalifa’s remaining in power will guarantee the continued deployment of the US Navy’s 5th Fleet in the region.

He said that Israel, too, is supporting Manama because the Al Khalifa regime is serving the interests of Israel in the region.

Media reports from inside Bahrain revealed that the Al Khalifa regime is using US-manufactured weapons to suppress peaceful popular protests and demonstrations in the tiny Persian Gulf country.

The report came after the US state department said in October that it will move forward with a plan to sell $53mln worth of weapons to Bahrain, despite the regime’s severe crackdown on peaceful popular protests.

Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February, calling for an end to the Al Khalifa dynasty’s over-40-year rule.
